The Championship of Spain is rewarded the city of Gijón (Asturias). The northern city has previously arranged the championship in both 1997 and 2011 and again consolidates its strong commitment to climbing.
Closing to the official calendar, the Spanish bouldering championship will be held again in :Climbat La Foixarda on September 29.
At the organizational level Top30´s Ignacio Alvarez will be overall responsible for the comps and Patxi Arocena will be responsible for putting together competent teams taking charge of the important route setting.
Although in 2012 Top30 and the Spanish federation (FEDME) will not organize any international events (fixed on the IFSC calendar) on Spanish soil, Top30 will be present elsewhere. We will have a major presence in the next World Championship to be held in Paris and being the international federation´s global partner, Top30 is working on several of the World Cup competitions.
No date is yet fixed for a return of international events to Spain. In any case it will not happen till 2013/2014. In February this year the mighty IFSC will decide who (country and city) will host the 2014 climbing world championships.
It is a pending decision we´ve highlighted.
