A few years ago we delivered a climbing wall to a tiny Norwegian parish, which was installed inside the church tower. It was kind of a peculiar but most interesting project and the wall has proved to be immensely popular - both amongst the congregations younger members and the members of the local climbing club, Kolbotn KK. At the time both space and budget set limits and what we offered was a relatively simple, vertical wall basically intended for top roping. The users have in many ways outgrown the wall and have for some time pondered the possibility to make changes.
After some careful planning it was decided to remove sections of the wall and replace the plywood panels with three-dimensional fiberglass and thus create an overhang and some more challenging climbing.
The parish council and the climbing club combined resources, bought the panels and undertook the installation themselves with our supervision.
So now the 10 m wall is reconfigured with 14 square meters of cool 3D Real Rock.
The wall is over the years altered from being solely a top roping wall to also now offering lead climbing. The left over panels will be used to increase the overall climbable surface.
