Hammerfest/Statoil boulder/Norway
Hammerfest is a city and municipality in Finnmark county. Hammerfest claims to be the northernmost city in the world. It is the world's northernmost settlement of more than 5,000 inhabitants with currently approximately 9500 inhabitants and it is the oldest town in Northern Norway.
The construction of the large liquefied natural gas site on Melkøya (island) by Statoil just off Hammerfest, which will process natural gas from Snøhvit, is the most expensive construction project in the history of North Norway. This project has resulted in an economic boom and new optimism in Hammerfest in recent years.
In the new welfare building Top30 has installed a small boulder for the Statoil staff in close cooperation with Avancia Sport. We've used Top Wave panels creating an installation measuring 5,8 meters in width and 4 meters in height. All in all it gives 40 m2 climbing surface. Some 200 holds and a Top30 Volume together with protective high-density mats was also part of our delivery.
